First Thoughts

So this is my first blog ever, I apologize now if it's lame.

This whole ordeal started several months ago when I decided to study abroad. I originally decided on Australia but after doing more research and finding out the my program wasn't offered in Sydney, I changed my direction of focus. I went to the study abroad fair at Stout last year and perused the different vendors and locations. One salesman handed me a brochure for South Africa and I put it in my bag not thinking twice about it. I stumbled on the brochure a few months later and liked all the pretty pictures so I decided this was the place for me. I looked into course offerings and found several courses that would transfer back. I was hooked!

I began the application process through CEA and Stout which looked daunting at first but was really quite manageable. I have now been officially accepted into both programs and have only to buy my plane ticket. Now comes the hard part...my flight options so far have been to fly from Chicago to New York and then to either Amsterdam or Zurich. From there,  I would have a 10-12 hour layover before flying to Johannesburg and then finally to Port Elizabeth.

My housing is run by CEA and is all international students through their program. I'll have one roommate, separate bedrooms but shared kitchen and bathroom. I don't have a meal plan so I'll have to fend for myself for cooking (I will be stealing my dad's recipes for sure!).

That's all for now. I'll keep this as updated as possible in the coming months.
